BACKGROUND ANALYSIS:


 
 RECOMMENDATION:


 

Having school zone cameras will reduce the speeding and have a safer environment for the children attending school.  It is recommended to pass the ordinance to proceed with the cameras.

 FISCAL/ BUDGETARY IMPACT:
 

Cost neutral to the City and here is the breakdown of the $100 Civil Fine.  The bold bullet is what the City receives per violation. 

 

• $20 toward the state general revenue fund.

• $60 toward local municipality to administer school zone speed programs or other public safety initiatives.

• $12 toward local school districts for school security initiatives, student transportation, or improving the safety of student walking conditions.

• $3 toward FDLE Criminal Standards and Training Fund 

• $5 toward the Crossing Guard Recruitment and Retention Program
