RE: Resolution No. R2023-117 to Approve Piggyback Contract with Airgas USA, LLC for Carbon Dioxide Bulk Delivery (Andrea Suarez-Abastida, NMB Water Director)

Description

BACKGROUND ANALYSIS:

Carbon Dioxide is an essential component used in the treatment of drinking water.

NMB water requires carbon dioxide for its daily water treatment operations to ensure compliance with drinking water standards. It Is used to reduce the water pH following the lime softening treatment process.

The Parks Department Aquatics also uses Carbon Dioxide for the daily use of the swimming pools, as it is proven to be most effective in lowering pH. Lowering the pH is necessary to stabilize the water and ensure the safety and quality of the water supply.

The purchase of carbon dioxide ties in with the City’s Strategic plan by following the goals of a high performing city organization providing exceptional customer service through safe and reliable drinking water and recreational facilities.

The City of Pompano Beach awarded Contract T-11-23 to Airgas USA, LLC for a one-year term with two one-year renewal options.

 RECOMMENDATION:

The City Manager and the Chief Procurement Officer recommend that the City Commission approve the Piggyback Contract in an estimated annual budgeted amount of $110,000.00 for the purchase of carbon dioxide bulk delivery services with Airgas.

 FISCAL/ BUDGETARY IMPACT:
As approved in the adopted FY24 budget appropriation.
