In in keeping with the City of North Miami Beach’s Strategic Plan’s Vision and Goal to upgrade major corridors in the City, the City constantly strives to partner with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to improve the image and quality of thoroughfares where both entities share responsibility and jurisdiction.
On July 1, 2022, the Florida State Legislature passed Senate Bill No. 160 providing honorary designation to a portion of State Road 826/Sunny Isles Boulevard between NE 35th Avenue and State Road A1A as “Anthony Reznik Boulevard”. Within this portion of roadway, The City had jurisdiction from NE 35th Avenue to the Intercoastal Waterway (North Side).
The FDOT has been since been directed to erect suitable markers along the portion of roadway that is renamed. It is the responsibility of the FDOT to order and install the signs for the newly designated roadway, and according to the State of Florida Legislature, Section 334.071, Florida Statues, (F.S.), FDOT may not erect the markers for honorary road or bridge designations unless the affected city commissions enact a resolution supporting the designation.
Therefore, FDOT is requesting that the City Commission adopt a resolution to designate/rename that section of the SR 826 between NE 35th Avenue and SR A1A.
Upon receipt of the adopted resolution, the FDOT will initiate fabrication of the signs, which has an approximate duration of eight (8) weeks. During this period, the sign installation ceremony will be coordinated with the City, as necessary.
