RE: Resolution No. R2022-158 Purchase of Electric Motor and Pump Repair Services from Condo Electric Corp. (Andrea Suarez Abastida, NMB Water Director )

Description

BACKGROUND ANALYSIS:

In line with the City of North Miami Beach’s (“City”) Strategic Plan of providing safe environment for residents and visitors to the City, the North Miami Beach Water Department (“NMB Water”) provides water service within the City of North Miami Beach, Aventura, Miami Gardens, Sunny Isles and parts of Unincorporated Miami-Dade County.

In order to maintain the NMB Water treatment process and provide water services to our customers, NMB Water requires a services contractor for electric motor and pump repair services which include but are not limited to; repair, modification and replacement of various types of electric motors, pumps, valves, mixers, piping gauges and belts.

The City identifies contracts competitively solicited and awarded by other governmental agencies as a favorable procurement method which is in line with the Citys Strategic Plan mission of providing excellent municipal services in a financially responsible manner.

The City of Plantation, Florida, issued Request for Sealed Proposals No.030-22, for qualified service providers for routine and emergency electric motor and pump repair services. Condo Electric Corporation, (“Condo Electric”) was awarded the RFSP for a two-year term, with options to renew for two (2) additional one (1) year terms.

Section 3-4.3 of the City’s Code of Ordinances allows for the use of other governmental entities’ contracts upon a determination that the supplies, materials, equipment or contractual services needed by the City were purchased using solicitation procedures which are substantially equivalent to the City’s Purchasing Guidelines.

Section 3-3.14 of the City’s Code of Ordinances provides that contracts in excess of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) shall be awarded by the City Commission.

 RECOMMENDATION:

The City Manager, the NMB Water Director and the Chief Procurement Officer recommend that the City Commission approve and authorize the City Manager or designee to enter into an agreement with Condo Electric for water and wastewater maintenance services in an estimated annual budget amount of $120,000.

 FISCAL/ BUDGETARY IMPACT:

Funding has been allocated in FY 23 budget appropriation process in account no. 410904-533460.
