MEMORANDUM

TO:Mayor and City Commission
FROM: City Manager, Arthur Sorey III
VIA: Director of Parks and Recreation, Andrew Plotkin
DATE:February  15, 2022

RE: Resolution No. R2022-23 Victory Playground Safety Surface (Andrew Plotkin, Parks and Recreation Director)

Description

BACKGROUND ANALYSIS:

Victory Park currently houses a playground for ages 2-5 and 5-12 year old's and is extensively used by residents and visitors. The Victory Park playground currently uses crumb rubber and is in need of replacement and updating with a rubber poured in place system. The crumb rubber requires extensive maintenance, is hard to use with ADA mobility devices and can be easily consumed by young children. During the FY22 budget process the Commission approved the replacement surfacing in the Parks and Recreation capital budget. The new surfacing from Robertson Industries Inc. will provide easy to use ADA mobility devices, provide better impact absorption, and lower maintenance costs over time. The City will be utilizing a piggyback contract from OMNIA Partners (National IPA and US Communities) #R162204 for "Sports Surfaces, Installation and Related Materials."

 RECOMMENDATION:

The City Manager, Parks and Recreation Director and Chief Procurement Officer recommend that the City Commission approve and authorize the City Manager or designee to execute an agreement with Robertson Industries Inc. in the amount of $198,841.10.

 FISCAL/ BUDGETARY IMPACT:

FY22 budget 010710.572630 / Parks and Recreation Capital Projects / Improvements Other Than Building / $198,841.10.
