In 1987 the Florida Legislature created the Florida Highway Beautification Council, requiring a statewide beautification program under Sections 339.24 and 339.2405 of the Florida Statutes for State transportation facilities, with the goal of beautification of roadways on the State Highway System, as appropriated by the State Legislature.
In keeping with the City of North Miami Beach’s (“City”) Strategic Plan’s Mission of a high performing city organization, the city applied to the Florida Department of Transportation and was approved a grant for landscape improvements to Miami Gardens Drive. Funding from the grant is intended to beautify the north west entrance of the city on SR860/Miami Gardens Drive between NE 6th Avenue and NE 10th Avenue.
The Florida legislature has appropriated $99,095 in fiscal year FY2022 toward this project. The city wishes to accept the grant funding and enter into an agreement with FDOT to provide the match fund as required to complete this landscape project.
The city will maintain all landscape improvements at its sole cost and expense in accordance with the terms of the landscape Maintenance Memorandum of Agreement.
