In keeping with the City's strategic plan goal to be a high performing city organization, it is our mission to provide high quality water services for our City and the cities we serve. It is imperative that the efficiency and data operations are maintained at the highest levels.
The NMB Water SCADA system is essential for process monitoring. This software system not only monitor levels of specific chemicals and toxins but also gathers data, archives the information, provides data visualization and alarms. SCADA is the acronym for "supervisory control and data acquisition."
NMB Water wishes is to establish an agreement for engineering, maintenance, repair, refurbishment, programming, construction, calibration and replacement of SCADA and related assets including control panels, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), HMI software platforms, power systems, motor control equipment, instrumentation, server systems, network communication systems, and remote terminal units (RTUs).
Curry Controls Company is the original installer and programmer of the current SCADA system at the Norwood Water Treatment Plant. The engineers and technicians that work for Curry Control are familiar with Norwood’s SCADA system. By establishing this contract, the water plant will have availability for emergency repair services along with any other required services that are necessary for maintaining plant operations.
Section 3-4.3 of the City’s Code of Ordinances allows for the use of other governmental entities’ contracts upon a determination that the supplies, materials, equipment or contractual services needed by the City were purchased using solicitation procedures which are substantially equivalent to the City’s Purchasing Guidelines.
St. Johns County, FL issued a Request for Proposals (RFP) No. 17-79-02 “SCADA System Services”. Award of this RFP was made to Curry Controls Company under Master Contract #18-MCC-CUR-08942, effective January 23, 2018, for an initial contract term of three (3) years with one (1) three-year renewal option. On September 18, 2020, St. Johns County exercised the renewal term for three (3) year through January 22, 2024.
Curry Controls has provided a SCADA Maintenance Quote for services with a certified project engineer for schedule visits for the three (3) year term. All maintenance visits will include extensive technical services to ensure NMB Water operations remain efficient and operating at optimum functionality throughout all water facilities. In turn, provide the best water services; communication, functionality and efficiency for our residents.
Section 3-3.14 of the City’s Code of Ordinances provides that contracts in excess of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000.00) shall be awarded by the City Commission.
