|
| | | | | | | | Description
| | BACKGROUND ANALYSIS:
| This Resolution joins the City of North Miami Beach into the Northeast Corridor Coalition. The Coalition is led by the Wynwood Business Improvement District (BID) who founded the coalition to advocate for the Northeast Corridor commuter rail initiative (SMART Plan) along the FEC Railway/Brightline corridor. The Northeast Corridor Coalition includes some of Miami-Dade’s most prominent business, education and cultural organizations, and municipalities. The Cities of Coral Gables, Aventura, Sunny Isles Beach, Miami Beach, and more are partnering with the Coalition to support their efforts.
The Northeast Corridor Coalition will be bringing letters of support and resolutions before the Miami Dade County County Commissioners to urge adoption of the project at an upcoming special meeting in September or October 2020. The meeting date is not known at this time, but the Coalition is requesting a resolution and letter of support from the City of North Miami Beach Mayor to express support for the adoption of the northeast FEC corridor rail project as identified in the Miami-Dade County SMART Plan. | RECOMMENDATION:
| Adopt the Resolution joining the City of North Miami Beach into the Northeast Corridor Coalition. | FISCAL/ BUDGETARY IMPACT:
