Consistent with the City’s strategic planning goal to be a beautiful, safe and livable residential community and to provide first-class leisure and cultural amenities and in order to expand and improve Washington Park and its recreational facilities, the Mayor and City Commission approved the acquisition of several privately-owned properties.
Direction and authorization was previously given by the Mayor and Commission to City Staff to pursue the purchase of this property with a maximum offer of $80,000. The value of the property was based on the appraisal that the City received as just compensation for the property.
The owner of the parcel of vacant land located at 1529 N.E. 153rd Terrace, North Miami Beach, has recently agreed to sell the property to the City for the purchase price of $80,000.
This investment highlights the importance of parks that are easily accessible, safe and fun, where families and children of all ages can play and gather.
