| | | | | | | | RE: | Resolution No. R2020-79 Approving Library Services and Technology Grant (Edenia M. Hernandez, Library Director) |
|
| | | | | | | | Description
| | BACKGROUND ANALYSIS:
| The Library Services and Technology Act Grant Awards (LSTA) is an annual grant to encourage libraries to develop technology services in their communities. The City of NMB is a widespread city with reduced technology access. NMB Library applied for a technology grant that would allow us to provide technology services to areas and inspire youth to access developing technologies right in their neighborhood. NMB Library has been awarded an LSTA grant that provides funding for a Mobile Technology Unit that would permit staff to go into communities that may find it challenging to travel to the library and provide technology lessons and access to computers. NMB Library has been approved for the Library Services and Technology Grant from the Florida Department of State, Division of Library and Information Services for Fiscal Year 2020-21. This grant is for a Mobile Technology Library Unit. The Grant was funded at $87,000 and requires a match of 20% or $17,400.00
The LSTA grant was awarded at $87,000 and requires a 20% match.
| RECOMMENDATION:
| The LSTA grant was awarded at $87,000 and requires a 20% match. NMB Library is able to meet this match with the budget currently submitted for FY 2020-21.
Please consider moving this grant agreement forward in the Commission's consent agenda.
| FISCAL/ BUDGETARY IMPACT:
| The Fiscal Impact to the City is $17,400.00, utilizing the resources already requested in the FY 2020-21 Budget. Staffing Percentage and supplies that are already part of NMB Library services would provide us with the match that is required. |
