RE: Ordinance No. 2019-07 (Second and Final Reading) Stormwater Rate Increase (Janette Smith, Finance Director)
BACKGROUND ANALYSIS:

The City of North Miami Beach has a stormwater utility which is crucial to the health, safety and welfare of the City and her residents.

 

To continue to provide for the effective operation, maintenance and improvement of the City's stormwater system, a rate increase of 2.2% per ERU (equivalent run-off unit) is requested to address the increase in the Consumer Price Index for all urban consumers, for all items, for the Miami-Fort Lauderdale-West Palm Beach, FL region from April 2018 to April 2019.

 

A 2.2% increase will result in a $0.10 increase per ERU per month.
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the stormwater utility charge increase of 2.2% per ERU.
FISCAL/BUDGETARY IMPACT: Additional revenue of approximately $25,000 for the stormwater utility for fiscal year 2020.
