NMB Water owns and operates its wastewater Master Pump Station (PS #4), which receives flow from several neighborhoods and private lift stations and transfers it to WASD’s sewer system through a force main. An assessment conducted by NMB Water in 2012 identified the Master Pump Station’s existing force main as “highly critical” infrastructure as described within the terms set in the Consent Decree. The existing force main was built in 1955 and is rapidly approaching the end of its useful life. The Project will be located within the City of Miami Gardens in Miami Dade County; starting at the intersection of NW 29th Ct. and NW 176 Steet, North to NW 179th Street, turning South to NW 23rd Ave, turning East to NW 175th Street. This project is intended to provide the following scope:
- Installation of approximately 5,500 LF of 16-Ductile Iron Pipe – open cut
- Installation of approximately 350 LF of 20-HDPE SDR 9 Pipe – horizontal directional drilling
- Tie-ups with other existing force mains
- Restoration of roadways and swales
The total investment estimated for this project is $2,800,000. The State of Florida Legislature provided financial assistance to the City of North Miami Beach in the amount of $400,000 through the 1595A Appropriate Funds – Water Projects. The construction duration is estimated to be of 12 months. |
