The FPL Wall was built in 1969 and surrounds a substation that was built in 1926. Situated at the Golden Gates Interchange, it is a half a block long concrete structure that greets everyone as they enter the westernmost point of City. Attempts to beautify this entry point has not met with lasting success. After three years of ongoing discussion, the City and Florida Power and Light finally came to an agreement.  Now, our first and most celebrated piece of art in public space is a reality as well as an exemplary public private partnership.
