In the fall of 2015, the City Manager assembled a multi-dimensional 90th Anniversary Planning Committee, which consists of key personnel throughout various divisions within City administration. During that time the City began planning, marketing and engaging businesses to participate in this commemorative event. On April 5, 2016, the City Council adopted Resolution No. R2016-19, Florida Municipal Marketing, LLC to lead corporate sponsorship and marketing efforts in support of the 90th Anniversary Celebration. Planning for the event is ongoing and its progression will continue up to and including the actual day of the 90th Birthday Celebration.
On Saturday, October 1st, 2016, the “City on the Rise” will celebrate its 90th birthday while honoring its diverse community and showcasing its vibrant and promising future. Led by the vision and vigor of City officials the celebration will take place along NE 19th avenue between 164th Street and 171st Street. The birthday bash will be free to the public; the VIP “Taste of NMB”, is $30 and starts at 7:00pm. Tickets to the “Taste of NMB” became available for purchase via Event Brite website on August 18, 2016.
As a City with a rich cultural history, the City of North Miami Beach Anniversary Celebration will feature live musical performances, cultural presentations, unveiling of original artwork by world renowned artist Romero Britto, history and community activity tents, art installation, VIP “tasting tent”, food trucks, and interactive activation stations and a host of other festivities.
Our 90th Celebration will feature a diverse and talented line up of entertainers hosted by DJ Zog & Afrika of Power 96. A live music concert will feature special performances by Mr. Vegas, Gypsy Lane, and The Hip Hop Kids!
In an effort to defray costs of producing such an exciting celebration, Florida Municipal Marketing, LLC has secured varying levels of sponsorship through cash and in-kind support. Please see attached Sponsorship list.
The Administration recommends the City Council authorize the City Manager or her designee to make any necessary sponsorship approval in connection with this event. The City and Florida Municipal Marketing, LLC anticipate additional sponsorships will be secured within the next (30) days and any sponsorships obtained after the September 20th, 2016, meeting will be submitted to the City Council for ratification.
The City’s agreement with Florida Municipal Marketing, LLC requires the City Council to approve all sponsorships. As a result, the attached Resolution is being submitted for your consideration. |
