BACKGROUND ANALYSIS:

The Public Works Department is tasked with providing beatification along the City’s major corridors as part of the Strategic Plan.  In an effort to provide beatification and enactments to the City’s major corridors, the Department has worked with its consultant to design landscape improvements in the roadways and medians along Biscayne Boulevard. 

 

After reviewing several options, Public Works Department and has identified SFM Services, Inc. of Miami Florida as a vendor capable of providing the installation of various trees and landscaping.  SFM Services, Inc. has previously provide high quality services to the City of North Miami Beach along 167th Ave. and other corridors and is vendor in good standing. 

 

The City of Miami Beach, Florida has issued and awarded ITB-2014-275-LR for Grounds Maintenance – Right of Way, Parking Facilities, Lincoln Road and Coastal Areas, which included a variety of trees and plants with installation on a per unit pricing, based on a percentage mark up off the Betrock’s Plant Finder Guide.  

 

City Ordinance Section 3-4.3, Use of Other Government Entities’ Contracts, allows for the purchases from contracts of other government agencies which resulted from a formal competitive bid process.

 

SFM Services, Inc. has provide the City of North Miami Beach, Florida a quote for the purchase and installation of various trees and landscaping along Biscayne Boulevard, under the same terms and condition of the Miami Beach contract.  The Department has available funding for the purchase and installation for a cost of $266,050.35

RECOMMENDATION: Requesting City Council approval to issue a Purchase Order to SFM, Services, Inc. for the purchase and installation of various trees and landscaping along Biscayne Boulevard in an amount not to exceed $266,050.35.  
FISCAL/BUDGETARY IMPACT:

The Department has available funding for the purchase and installation for a cost of $266,050.35.
