Miami Dade County, through their Special Taxing District Division is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the guardhouses and the landscaping adjacent to the guard gates. Over the past couple of months the County has painted and repaired various items inside and outside of both guardhouses in Eastern Shores. However, it was also noted that the landscaping had become unmaintained and in need of replacement.
Continuing our Strategic Plan's Goals of "Beautiful, Safe and Livable" improvements in the landscaping was requested from Miami Dade County. In March, 2016, adjacent to the 35th Avenue guardhouse, the old plumbago and schefflera plants were removed and replaced with new green island ficus and fresh mulch.
Additionally, while not much space exists for new landscaping on 164th Street, new xorias were added to the entrance of 164th Street.
We have expressed our expectations that the facility and landscaping be maintained in proper order. There is also a renewed commitment from the County for maintenance and upkeep, and all City personnel working in the guardgates have been instructed to look for items needing repair and to report to me areas of concerns. |
