On Saturday March 19th, the command staff and various nominated employees attended the Annual Law Enforcement Officers (LEO) Awards Gala. The City of North Miami Beach was well represented. There were five employees nominated in 4 categories. The nominees and the categories were as follows:
Officer of the Year
Officer Alex Morales – For rescuing boaters off of a sinking vessel in the Atlantic Ocean.
Officer Lino Diaz – For his involvement in the serving of a search warrant where he was shot twice and continued to furnish vital information to his team.
Uniform Services Award
Officer Rafael Florencio – helped to extricate a driver from a sinking vehicle which entered Snake Creek Canal after spiraling out of control.
Special Operations Award
Sergeant Jason Ochoa – This was a team award for the great work that the NMBPD Special Response Team and the Aventura Special Response Team does on a constant basis.
Support Services Award
Communications Supervisor Nicole Camacho – Honored for the work, guidance, leadership and dedication that she exhibits as the Communication Supervisor and how that unit supports patrol officers and their daily duties.
