Being environmentally conscious and responsible is part of the City of North Miami Beach’s alignment with its Strategic Plan as a high performing city. This is reflected in the city’s current Service Agreement for Collection and Disposal of Residential and Commercial Solid Waste and Recycling. The agreement calls for the phasing in of CNG trucks in North Miami Beach, offering lower emissions, smaller carbon footprints, and quieter operations than diesel vehicles.
On March 16, 2016, Waste Management introduced its new fleet of new compressed natural gas (CNG) trucks for residential garbage collection in the City of North Miami Beach. CNG trucks for bulk trash will be introduced in April. The gradual introduction of new compressed natural gas-powered trucks allows for quieter trucks and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 22 metric tons per year. |
